For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord
God has a plan. It is a great and wonderful plan because he doesn’t do any other kind of plan. God speaks and the plan comes into being. He can look through the ages and see the plan unfold because he isn’t constrained by time and space. He created them. He is outside the rules of nature, natural laws listen to him. He sees the beginning and the end. He is the Alpha and the Omega. He is the beginning and the end. Nothing in the plan takes Him by surprise.
We are taken by surprise because we live in the here and now. We don’t see the beginning and the end like he does. We only see the now. And sometimes the now appears scary and unsure. We don’t trust the unchanging goodness of God. We have a view of God that says if God was loving and good then bad things would not happen in our lives. But bad things do happen. The husband leaves, the child dies, the cancer returns, the layoff comes and much more. But we have a choice to make. It is not an easy choice. It not can it be made once. It must be made time and time again. The choice is ours. Do we look at God through the lens of our circumstances? Or do we look at our circumstances through the lens of what God says? One way says that God does not love me because of what is happening in my life. The other way says that God loves me and will be with me no matter what happens. What do you choose? Have you had an experience with this? Let me know in the comments.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
His love endures forever. Psalm 136:1
